Early detection for Prevention of cancer)

Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women in India. The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a major causative factor for cervical cancer. Early screening can significantly reduce the incidence and mortality rates associated with this disease. This proposal outlines a comprehensive HPV Screening Program for the women and girls of Karnataka, focusing on prevention, early detection, and awareness.

With the Divine Blessings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba , the Alumni of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (Deemed University) have initiated a Health and Wellness Camp specifically focused on Cancer Awareness and Early Detection, in the districts of Karnataka. This endeavor is an extension of the medical camp conducted at Brindavan Ashram Whitefield for over two and a half decades by the alumni. Our team for this initiative is called TEAMSAI.

As we approach the momentous occasion of Sri Sathya Sai Baba's 100th Birthday in Nov 2025, the SSSIHL Alumni have initiated these camps as a heartfelt offering to our beloved Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Our primary objectives include creating cancer awareness, conducting community risk assessments, and screening individuals for elevated risk of cancer. Additionally, we intend to provide support for pre-cancer treatment for the citizens. Cancer surgeries are not part of this initiative.

Karkinos Healthcare Pvt Ltd. is providing diagnostics and clinical expertise and their Oncology platform for this initiative. This organization is founded and led by our esteemed alumni brother Dr Venkataraman R and has been instrumental in promoting cancer awareness and early detection of cancer across India. Together, we aim to provide and make a significant impact on the lives of citizens.

Previu Health Pvt Ltd is a technology-enabled preventive healthcare company specializing in innovative solutions for HPV vaccination, genetic testing, and early cancer detection. This organization is founded and led by our esteemed alumni brother Rakesh Menon and has been instrumental in promoting cancer awareness and early detection of cancer across India. We provide accessible and affordable healthcare solutions, including comprehensive cancer care, by leveraging technology.

We pray to Sri Sathya Sai Baba to give us the strength and energy to make a difference and bring joy, hope, and healing to those in need.

Objectives

1. HPV Screening: To screen eligible women for HPV, particularly those who are married and age between 25 up to 65 years.

2. Awareness and Education: To educate the community about HPV, its link to cervical cancer, and the importance of regular screening.

3. Vaccination: Childrens between age of 9 to 26 years

Target Population

1. HPV Screening: Married women between 25 to 65 years who are not pregnant, lactating, or menstruating during the screening dates. HPV tests will not be conducted for womens who have undergone hysterectomy (removal of the uterus)

2. Vaccination: Childrens between age of 9 to 26 years

Program Implementation

Location

The program will be conducted in Primary Health Centres (PHCs) or any other infrastructure available/suitable and designated by the respective SSSSO District Presidents.

Resources and Support Required

1. Medical Personnel:

   • Gynecologist doctors

o Nursing staff

• Dentists

• General Physician

• Consumables:

• Screening kits

• Other medical supplies necessary for the procedures

• Procuring and DispersingMedicines

• Logistics and Travel:

• Accommodation and travel support.

Responsibilities of TeamSai

• Coordination and management of the entire program

• Guiding Volunteers in Registration of Citizens

Responsibilities of the SSSSO District Samithi

• Provision of medical personnel (Gynecologists, Nurses, Sevadals)

• Logistic support for Volunteers (Transportation and Travel arrangements)

The proposed HPV Screening Program aims to significantly reduce the burden of cervical cancer in Districts of Karnataka through screening efforts. By partnering with TeamSai, the SSSSO District Samithi’s can leverage expertise, community engagement strategies, and efficient resource management to ensure the successful implementation of this vital public health initiative.
